Imagination Vacation Colorado

This is the second in the Imagination Vacation Series of picture books. The series teaches the science behind popular vacation spots for families. This one teaches the geology/earth science of Colorado. We bought it on vacation in Colorado. The story follows a family, much like our own, as they visit Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park, Dinosaur Ridge and Great Sand Dunes National Park. We bought the book in Estes Park and ended up using it as a guide book of sorts. It led us to Great Sand Dunes, which we hadn't even heard of (awesome place for kids). There are lesson plans for various content areas in the back (perfect for homeschool) and we LOVE the watercolor diagrams of the earth's inner workings. We also have the author's Colorado book, Imagination Vacation Yellowstone.
We read this book with our 6 and 8 year old daughter and son, but I could see using the series with 3 - 10 year olds in the right setting.
